Who would have ever thought Kesha Rose Sebert, a Stanford University graduate, would become the caricature that is Ke$ha? Think what you want about this pop singer, but there’s no doubt that she’s a smart woman. She knows what sells in music: parties, patron, and promiscuity. She has developed her image to such a refined point that her target demographic knows what she’s about, and she will be a staple in their weekend kegger playlists for years to come. I can’t even imagine how fun of a party her concert at The Rave in Milwaukee must have been.
Unfortunately, this image can be a double-edged sword for the original queen of sleaze (I say original because I fear she may soon be unseated from said throne by Miley Cyrus, but that’s another story). Today’s featured song may never be heard by Ke$ha’s masses of casual fans unless it’s released as a single, largely because it is so different from her most popular songs. But that’s just part of the industry. That’s also why I’m here to share it.
Classic piano keys form the song’s foundation, and Ke$ha’s voice actually sounds like it has improved since this non-auto tuned audio came out (Take caution):
“Wonderland” is a song that reminds me of Lady Gaga’s “Brown Eyes” and provides more evidence to my belief that Ke$ha is vastly underrated in the female pop star triumvirate that consists of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and herself. Thoughts on this claim? Fire back at me in the comments. Either way, enjoy the song!
