A Congolese and Finnish rapper influenced by Fever Ray and Burial, Gracias brings us a sound largely driven by ambient electronic instrumentals. His song “Repent”, which is featured in the above music video, takes a special focus on this influence. His video puts an added emphasis on atmosphere, as two adventurous children finding the resting Gracias in the middle of the woods leading to an impromptu performance under light bulbs gives off an interestingly alternative vibe.
From what I gather, his debut LP is currently only available in Europe, so we’ll have to keep tabs on his website to see when it becomes accessible to Americans.
